The basics
What is an Instagram audio downloader?
An Instagram audio downloader is a web tool that takes the link to a public Instagram video, pulls out its sound track and gives it back as a standalone audio file, usually an MP3. It is the same idea as an Instagram to MP3 converter: the picture is discarded and only the sound is kept, so you end up with a small file you can play offline, import into an editor or transcribe.
How the conversion works
Instagram does not offer a download button for audio. The link you paste points to a video whose audio and video streams are stored separately. Our server resolves that public post, reads the audio stream, and pipes it through ffmpeg, which encodes MP3 with the LAME encoder at the bitrate you picked. The result is sent to your browser while it is still being encoded, which is why the download begins within a second or two and no file ever sits on a disk waiting to be collected.

Ways to get audio from an Instagram video
There is more than one way to save Instagram audio. Which one is right depends on how often you do it and what you plan to do with the file.
- Online converter (this page). Fastest for one-off jobs. No install, audio only, works on any phone or computer.
- Video editor. Apps like InShot or CapCut can export audio from a video you already saved. Best when you also want to trim or adjust the sound, but you need the video file first.
- Screen recording. A last resort. It captures notification sounds and lowers quality because the audio is recorded a second time.
- Renaming an MP4 to MP3. Does not work. The file still contains video, and many players will refuse it.
If you plan to reuse someone else’s sound in your own content, the converter is only the first step. Check who owns the audio and whether you have permission to use it.

Safety
The tool runs in your browser and never asks for your Instagram password or any other login. You do not install anything. The site is served over HTTPS, the MP3 is streamed to you and not stored, and the converter refuses anything that is not a valid instagram.com link before making a single request. Legality
Converting audio for personal, offline use of your own content, or content you have permission to use, is generally fine. Republishing, selling or re-uploading someone else’s audio without a licence can infringe copyright, whatever tool was used to get the file. Music inside a Reel is usually owned by a label or the creator. What actually converts
If the post is public and has sound on it, you'll get an MP3 back.
Reels
This is what most people are here for. Reel links look like instagram.com/reel/SHORTCODE. Links copied from the share sheet carry a pile of tracking parameters on the end, and those get stripped before anything is requested, so you don’t have to tidy the URL yourself.
Feed videos and carousels
Normal video posts at instagram.com/p/SHORTCODE behave the same way. If the post is a carousel with several clips in it, you get the audio from the first video in the set.
IGTV and longer uploads
Interviews and long-form uploads convert fine, and they’re the case where bitrate actually matters. Twenty minutes at 320 kbps is a 48 MB file. The same thing at 128 kbps is 19 MB, and for someone talking you won’t hear the difference.
Stories
Public Stories work while they’re still up. They expire after 24 hours, and once they’re gone the link stops resolving for everyone, us included.
What won’t work
Private accounts, deleted posts, age-restricted content, and links that point at a profile rather than one specific post. Nothing here gets around Instagram’s privacy settings. The test is simple: open the link in a private browsing window, and if you can’t see it logged out, neither can this. What you’re allowed to do with the file afterwards is a separate question, covered on the terms page.

Questions people actually ask
Is this Instagram audio downloader free?
Yes. There is no account, no card and no trial that runs out. Requests are rate limited per network to keep the service fast for everyone, and ads help cover hosting.
What MP3 quality do I get?
128, 192 or 320 kbps at 44.1 kHz, your choice. The ceiling is whatever Instagram kept when the video was uploaded, so 320 preserves what's there rather than adding anything back.
Can I grab audio from a private account?
No. Only posts that are publicly visible will resolve. Private accounts, deleted posts and age-restricted content return an error, and we don't try to get around that.
Do you keep the files?
No. The audio is encoded as it streams to you and never touches disk. Once your download ends there's nothing left.
Does it work on an iPhone?
Yes, and on Android. It all runs in the browser. On iOS the MP3 lands in Files under Downloads, on Android in your Downloads folder.
Why did my link fail?
Usually a private account, a deleted post, a link to somebody's profile instead of a specific post, or a video with no sound on it. Open the link in a private browsing window. If you can't see it logged out, neither can we.
Can I use the audio in my own video?
Only if you own it or the rights holder said yes. Converting a file doesn't give you a licence to it. The terms of service page covers this properly.
Is there a length limit?
Anything up to about 15 minutes is comfortable. Longer IGTV uploads can time out on a slow connection, and picking 128 kbps helps.
How do I convert an Instagram video to MP3?

Where is the MP3 saved?
In your browser's normal download location. On iPhone it is in Files under Downloads, on Android in the Downloads folder, and on a computer in your Downloads folder.
Why did I get an M4A file instead of an MP3?
If our own converter cannot read a link, a backup audio service may be used. It returns the audio as M4A, which plays on virtually every phone and computer and can be converted to MP3 in any audio editor.
Can I download the original sound or song from a Reel?
You get the Reel's single mixed audio track: voiceover, music and effects together. The separate original-audio file that Instagram links to is not available from the public video.
Does Instagram notify the creator when I convert their audio?
This tool does not sign in with your Instagram account, so nothing is tied to your profile. Instagram's behaviour can change, so treat this as general information.
Is it safe to use?
